depot construction worker shot Wednesday by police with seven felony counts
of unlawful use of a weapon. David Brian Miller, 44, of Pendleton, is in stable condition at Oregon
Health Sciences University after being shot in the left arm Wednesday by
an Oregon State Police detective. District Attorney Chris Brauer said each felony offense carries a maximum
penalty of five years in prison. Miller, a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 598 in Pasco,
called Gary Barcom, the union's business manager, Wednesday distraught over
a insurance settlement. Barcom said Miller made threats against former co-workers at the incinerator
plant under construction at the Umatilla Chemical Depot. Barcom called depot
officials, who in turn contacted the Oregon State Police. Miller, who had several guns in his possession, allegedly tried to barricade
himself inside his shop but was shot by state police Detective Mike Davis.
