HERMISTON - The Umatilla Chemical Depot's quarterly emergency preparedness drill is set for Monday afternoon.

The aim is to test the response time of the depot and local emergency operations units. Emergency management officials in Oregon and Washington will be participating.

The depot's sirens will sound, but county officials do not plan to set off Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program sirens located off the site.

The drill is an excellent time for families and businesses to test their emergency plans, according to CSEPP officials.

For more information about CSEPP or how to prepare for an emergency, call 1-877-367-2737 in Morrow and Umatilla counties, and 1-800-841-7953 in Benton County.
